BENEFITS

All 5 HEED flavours in one kit

The HEED Sampler Kit contains 5 single-serving (30 g) HEED packets – one of each of the five HEED flavours: Cherry-Bomb, Lemon-Lime, Orange, Melon and Strawberry. That way you can try every flavour before buying a larger size. It's also a great way to find out in training how your body responds to HEED before you use it in a race.

What's in each packet?

  • Energy and electrolytes in one bottle: 110 kcal and 28 g of carbohydrate per serving, mainly from maltodextrin made from tapioca – a complex carbohydrate.
  • Full-spectrum electrolyte profile: 150 mg of sodium, plus chloride, potassium, calcium and magnesium in every serving.
  • No added sugar, no citric acid: its mild sweetness comes from xylitol, stevia and monk fruit extract.
  • Vegan, gluten-free, kosher, with no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners.

What did we focus on when developing HEED?

  • No added sugar: HEED's energy comes from maltodextrin, a complex carbohydrate; one serving contains only 2 g of sugars.
  • Easy on the stomach: HEED contains no citric acid, so it isn't acidic, and its flavour is deliberately mild – not too strong or syrupy, and it doesn't become cloying even after many bottles. In our experience, the main cause of stomach problems is taking in too much fuel or mixing it too concentrated, which is why we recommend moderate servings.
  • Electrolytes throughout your workout – on the topic of cramps: muscle cramps are one of the most talked-about topics in long workouts and races; several factors play a part in them – fatigue, pace, heat and the minerals lost through sweat. HEED delivers electrolytes with every sip, so your electrolyte replenishment is continuous. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function and to electrolyte balance.

Who is it for?

For athletes who prefer a flavoured drink to plain water during exercise and want to try HEED or find their favourite flavour. For workouts and races of about 2–3 hours, you can use HEED as your main fuel; for longer efforts, Perpetuem should be the foundation. If you prefer to drink plain water, Hammer Gel is the better choice.

You'll find the exact ingredients and nutritional values of HEED, as well as the larger sizes, on the HEED page.

FAQ

Which flavours are in the kit?

All five HEED flavours, one packet of each: Cherry-Bomb, Lemon-Lime, Orange, Melon and Strawberry. The contents of the kit are fixed and the flavours can't be swapped – so you're sure to try every one of them. If you want caffeine-free fuel, please note that the Cherry-Bomb flavour contains caffeine.

Which flavour contains caffeine?

Only Cherry-Bomb: it contains 25 mg of caffeine per serving from green tea extract, plus 500 mg of taurine. Lemon-Lime, Orange, Melon and Strawberry are caffeine-free.

Why is the flavour of HEED so mild?

On purpose. Athletes' most common complaint was that sports drinks were too sweet. Maltodextrin is barely sweet on its own, and we didn't want to add sugar or artificial sweeteners – that's why we use small amounts of xylitol, stevia and monk fruit extract. The result: HEED isn't overpowering, not even after many bottles.

Hammer Gel or HEED – which one should I choose?

It's a matter of taste. HEED is for athletes who prefer a flavoured drink during exercise; Hammer Gel is a thick, concentrated gel for those who like to hydrate with plain water. Both are ideal for workouts of about 2–3 hours.

Are the electrolytes in HEED enough, or do I need Endurolytes as well?

One serving of HEED provides roughly as many electrolytes as one Endurolytes capsule. For most athletes, that covers part of their electrolyte needs; in the heat, when you sweat heavily or if you're a heavier athlete, it's a good idea to supplement with Endurolytes.

Is HEED vegan and gluten-free?

Yes: it's vegan, gluten-free and kosher, and contains no dairy.

How should I store it?

In a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. You'll find the best-before date on the packet. If you mix HEED in advance and keep it in the fridge, it won't lose any of its value within 24–36 hours – shake well before drinking.

HOW TO USE

Preparation

  • Mix the contents of one packet (30 g) with 355–591 ml of water, depending on the temperature and the intensity of your effort. Put the water in your bottle first, then the powder, and shake well.
  • Drink it steadily in small sips during your workout or race.

How much?

  • For most athletes, 1–1.5 servings of HEED per hour is enough; lighter athletes may need just 1 serving, heavier athletes 1.5–1.75 servings.
  • In the heat, when you sweat heavily or during longer efforts, top up your electrolytes with Endurolytes capsules.

Always test your serving in training, never on race day.

Important information

  • Caffeine: the Cherry-Bomb flavour contains 25 mg of caffeine (from green tea extract) and 500 mg of taurine per serving: not recommended for children or for pregnant or breastfeeding women. All other flavours are caffeine-free.
  • Contains sweeteners. Excessive consumption may produce laxative effects.
  • HEED contains xylitol, which is toxic to dogs – never give the powder or the prepared drink to your dog.
  • Contains no allergenic ingredients; made in a facility that also processes milk, soy, eggs, peanuts, sesame, crustaceans and molluscs, tree nuts and wheat.
