The Race PR Kit brings together Race Day Boost, Anti-Fatigue Caps and Energy Surge, at a better price than buying them separately: phosphate loading in the days before your race, stimulant-free capsules for the late stage of long efforts, and sublingual ATP for the key moments. Phosphorus contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism; magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vegan, gluten-free, caffeine-free.
What’s in the kit:
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Free from banned substances.
When you’re aiming to run or ride a personal record (PR) in a race, a lot depends on the details – on top of good preparation and the right fueling. The Race PR Kit brings together the three supplements we recommend for the key (“A”) races of your season – at a better price than buying them separately. All three are vegan and gluten-free, and none of them contains caffeine.
4 capsules four times a day on each of the four days before your race, each serving providing 1000 mg of trisodium phosphate – following the protocol used in sports science studies. Phosphate loading is researched mainly for its role in buffering the acid produced during exercise and for the 2,3-DPG content of red blood cells. Malic acid makes it easier on your stomach. Phosphorus contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
Magnesium and potassium aspartates plus OKG (ornithine alpha-ketoglutarate) – we chose them to deal with the ammonia that builds up during exercise, which we consider one of the main causes of early fatigue. Magnesium contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal muscle function; potassium contributes to normal muscle function.
100 mg of PEAK ATP® per tablet, in a sublingual form that dissolves under your tongue. There’s no fixed dosing schedule: you take it before a short, intense race, before a long climb or in the final push. In our experience, it delivers the most in the second half of an effort.
Runners, cyclists, triathletes and all endurance athletes – for the most important races of the season and for multi-day events. The kit doesn’t provide energy, fluid or full-spectrum electrolyte replacement: during the race, Hammer Gel, HEED or Perpetuem, and Endurolytes take care of those.
Because each one is made for a different phase of your race. Race Day Boost prepares you in the days before the race with phosphate loading; Anti-Fatigue Caps is made for the late stage of long efforts; and Energy Surge is for the key moments of the race – before a climb, a surge or the final push. In our opinion, the three complement each other well this way.
Energy Surge contains ATP – the main energy storage and transfer molecule of your cells – and has no fixed dosing schedule: you take it when you need it. Anti-Fatigue Caps contains two ingredients – potassium/magnesium aspartates and OKG – which we chose to deal with the ammonia that builds up during exercise, and you take it regularly, every hour. The two products combine well.
Phosphate loading means taking small doses of sodium phosphate several times a day for a few days before a race. The method has been researched in endurance athletes for decades; we matched the dosing of Race Day Boost (4 × 1 g a day for 4 days) to the protocol used in the studies. Individual responses can vary, so try it before a less important race first.
Not Race Day Boost: in our experience, a kind of “tolerance” can develop with phosphate loading, so we recommend it 4–6 times a year, for the most important races of your season. Anti-Fatigue Caps and Energy Surge can be used in long or hard workouts and in any race.
No. All three products are free of caffeine and other stimulants, so you can use them before an evening race or if you’re sensitive to caffeine, and they add nothing to the caffeine you get from other sources (a caffeinated gel, for example).
Yes. The products in the kit don’t provide energy, fluid or full-spectrum electrolyte replacement. You still need to take care of those during the race – with Hammer Gel, HEED or Perpetuem, and Endurolytes, for example. To plan your fueling, we recommend our How to fuel guides.
Yes, all three products are vegan and gluten-free.
