AO Booster is our antioxidant supplement to go alongside Super Antioxidant: it brings ingredients that Super Antioxidant doesn’t contain. It combines all eight members of the vitamin E family – four tocopherols (in a gamma-rich complex) and four tocotrienols (EVNol®) – with two carotenoids, lutein and astaxanthin. In our view, the complete vitamin E family is worth more than the single form found in most supplements, alpha-tocopherol.
The vitamin E family has eight members: four tocopherols and four tocotrienols (alpha, beta, gamma and delta). AO Booster contains all eight: the tocopherols in a gamma-rich complex, and the tocotrienols in a complex called EVNol®, extracted from palm fruit.
Most food supplements contain only one form, alpha-tocopherol. According to research, supplementing with alpha-tocopherol alone may lower your body’s gamma-tocopherol levels – which is why we think the complete family is the better choice. AO Booster contains more gamma-tocopherol than the other three tocopherols combined.
Gamma-tocopherol has a different chemical structure: according to vitamin E researcher Dr Maret G. Traber, it reacts not only with reactive oxygen species but also with reactive nitrogen species. Following the work of Dr Lester Packer and Dr Barrie Tan, tocotrienols have become a popular research subject; among other things, they are being studied in the areas of cardiovascular health, the liver and metabolism.
Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Super Antioxidant is built on water-soluble and enzyme ingredients (L-glutathione, SOD, grape seed extract, ginkgo, gotu kola, vinpocetine, vitamin C). AO Booster adds fat-soluble ingredients: the complete vitamin E family, lutein and astaxanthin. We think the two work best together. AO Booster is also part of the Super Immunity Booster Kit.
No – only their names are similar. Lutein is a carotenoid found in dark green leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach; the main source of the lutein used in food supplements is the marigold flower (Tagetes erecta). Luteolin is a flavonoid found in celery, broccoli and parsley, among others – it is one of the ingredients of Uric X.
No. AO Booster comes in a softgel capsule: the capsule shell contains gelatin of animal origin, and the fill also contains beeswax – so it is neither vegan nor vegetarian. In this form, the fat-soluble ingredients (vitamin E forms, carotenoids) stay stable.
Adults only. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication, have surgery planned, or have a known medical condition or take medication regularly, consult your doctor before use.
Yes. Our supplements are made in accordance with US dietary supplement manufacturing regulations (21 CFR 111): every raw material used is tested for purity, potency, identity and integrity, and checked at every stage of production – blending, encapsulation, packaging materials and finished product – before it is released for sale.
MFG is the date of manufacture. The product keeps its quality for 4 years from the date of manufacture if you store it in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and excessive heat. After opening, always close the cap tightly and use within 6 months.
On rest days: 1–2 softgels with food.
On training days: 1–2 softgels after your workout, with Recoverite or Hammer PHOOD. On long training days, you can take 1 more softgel with dinner.
Because the ingredients are fat-soluble, we think it’s best taken with a meal.
Tocopherol complex (55% d-gamma-tocopherol) – The four tocopherols of the vitamin E family (alpha, beta, gamma and delta), with the emphasis on the gamma form, from a natural source. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
EVNol® 50% (38.5% d-mixed tocotrienols) – The four tocotrienols of the vitamin E family (alpha, beta, gamma and delta), extracted and concentrated from the fruit of the oil palm.
Lutein – A natural carotenoid found in large amounts in green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale; here it comes from marigold (Tagetes erecta) flower extract.
Astaxanthin – A red carotenoid produced by the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis; it gives salmon, lobster and crab their characteristic colour.
Capsule shell (gelatin, glycerin, carob, purified water), beeswax – The shell of the softgel capsule, and beeswax, which gives the fill its consistency.
