Master your sleep with CBD

Hozd mesterfokra az alvásod CBD-vel!

By Steve Born

I don’t know about you, but after an already long winter here in northwest Montana, which still has a way to go before it’s over, I’m looking forward to March 10, which is when we “spring forward” once again (i.e., Daylight Savings Time). Sure, I may lose an hour of sleep on that night, but the payoff is that the days will feel longer, thanks to ever-increasing periods of sunlight.

For now, though, the shorter days and reduced hours of sunlight that most of us will be experiencing for at least a few more weeks can negatively affect our mood and can cause fatigue and even sadness. Also, while most of us are nowhere near “peak season” training volume and intensity, we’re all starting to increase our training workload, which often means increased amounts of sleep-affecting aches and soreness. And, as always, there’s plenty going on in our world and in THE world that can keep stress levels high. And that stress can definitely put the kibosh on our ability to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep for any significant length of time.

We have discussed the importance of getting consistent, high-quality sleep several times; however, it’s worth going over a few key bits of research to emphasize just how important it is.

  • According to research, “adults should sleep seven or more hours per night on a regular basis to promote optimal health.”1
  • Unfortunately, the data shows that more than one-third of adults in the United States are not hitting the mark.2
  • Lack of consistently sufficient, high-quality sleep can have dire consequences, “including weight gain and obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and stroke, depression, and increased risk of death.”1
  • Part-time to chronic insomnia negatively impacts our immune system, potentially increasing our risk of getting sick. One study on sleep and immune system function concludes: “Prolonged sleep curtailment and the accompanying stress response invoke a persistent unspecific production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, best described as chronic low-grade inflammation, and also produce immunodeficiency, which both have detrimental effects on health.”3

If we are to perform our best athletically and, more importantly, maintain strong immunity and help protect ourselves from numerous health consequences, we must consistently get sufficient amounts of high-quality sleep. Unfortunately, this is often difficult to do, which is where Hammer CBD comes in.

Hammer CBD - Superb for supporting superior sleep quality Hammer CBD

Though CBD is sometimes thought of more as a powerfully effective way to alleviate aches and soreness—and it definitely does that—all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids found in Hammer CBD products are superb allies in helping to alleviate sleep issues. These cannabinoids act on receptors found in the cells that are part of the body’s endocannabinoid system, a system that regulates key aspects of our biology. Among numerous other health benefits, the endocannabinoid system helps regulate sleeping patterns.

The phytocannabinoids in the Hammer CBD “family” of products augment the body’s natural production of cannabinoids, helping to promote better-quality sleep while also providing strong support for the immune system.4

The importance of obtaining enough high-quality sleep is hard to overstate, as many aspects of human health—including proper immune system function—depend on our ability to consistently obtain optimal amounts of sleep. With so many factors that can negatively impact sleep, Hammer CBD is what to reach for to get the full allotment of sleep you need each and every night.

Additional information

Question: What’s the difference between a broad-spectrum CBD formula and a full-spectrum CBD formula?

Answer: There are over 100 cannabinoids as well as terpenes, flavonoids, and other compounds in the hemp plant, all of which provide numerous benefits for many aspects of human health.

One of the cannabinoids is THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the one responsible for the “high” effect. Broad-spectrum formulas have all the aforementioned cannabinoids, terpenes, and more present, with the exception of THC. Hammer Nutrition’s broad-spectrum CBD formulas are guaranteed via Certificate of Analysis to have 0.0% THC content. If you’re a drug-tested athlete, subject to drug tests in your job, or if you’re one of the countless people who simply don’t want any THC in their bodies, a broad-spectrum formula is what you want.

In a full-spectrum formula, everything is present, including up to 0.3% THC. This formulation is oftentimes a more attractive option, especially for anyone not subject to drug testing, because of what is known as the “entourage effect.” This describes the synergistic benefits experienced when all the compounds in the hemp plant are consumed together. While a broad-spectrum formula offers tremendous benefits, a full-spectrum formula offers even better, more complete “entourage effect” benefits.

Note: 0.3% THC content is nowhere near what would be required for the psychoactive effects to occur; one would literally have to take many bottles of a full-spectrum formula to come anywhere near close.
